PAD Risk Assessment

Find Out If You Are at Risk For
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

checklist.pngIn the United States, 1 of 5 people over the age of 65 is diagnosed with PAD each year. PAD occurs when there is a buildup of cholesterol and plaque in the leg arteries, causing decreased blood flow to the legs and feet - leading to pain and discomfort.

Peripheral Artery Disease is common in men and women over the age of 50 with a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, or who smoke. If you are in this group, or if you are age 70 or older and you experience any of the following symptoms, there is a good chance you may have PAD:

  • Leg pain caused by walking and relieved with rest or pain in the legs at rest
  • Pain, sores or wounds on toes, feet, or legs
  • Temperature lower in one leg than the other
  • Poor nail growth on toes and decreased hair growth on legs
  • A poorly healing wound on a lower extremity
